If you read my first post you know we are talking about momentary happiness. This post is in continuation of that thought. I heard this phrase many times before, but only at the beginning of this year, when I envisioned my year 2023, I could relate to this statement.

I saw this reel on Instagram where the actors' roundtable is happening and Tom Hanks made this statement- this too shall pass, whether it is an unlucky hour, you are feeling distressed, understand, this too shall pass! If you are feeling joy and happiness about occasions happening in your life, make sure you know - THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!

Now, why this stuck in my head and I included this in my first affirmation of the year because this thought will keep you grounded in difficult times.

When you are presented with an unpleasant situation in life, it's natural to have emotions all over the place.

I remember 4yrs back when I decided to change the course of my career and chose not to teach anymore, as it was not giving me the happiness it should have. Additionally, I was questioning my action time and again, which led to doubts about my identity and the purpose of all the education I had received so far. My fears blew out of proportion and I ended up being in the hospital for a few hours due to anxiety.

Certainly, this incident didn't go as planned. I could not wrap my head around the fact it is happening to me. The base reason I could figure out was the lack of support and understanding. Moreover, when I gave more thought to this, I felt about the timing of this incident, coz in my head I had visioned it differently. Without cementing my beliefs and outlook on my career, I accelerated the process to send the message, that I am not comfortable teaching. Till that point in time, I was sure what not to do instead of what I could do.

But this is life, the only predictable thing here is its unpredictability (that's what we also learn in Armed Forces). After a few months, I decided on my new goal. Funny to state, I left teaching only to get into teaching working professionals. My actions and decisions got in sync, and I became a Language trainer. It felt great in the beginning, so why would this go wrong?

Soon I realized I am making no progress here either and left the job in search of a new goal in life. Encapsulating: The nature of bad circumstance is that it leads to the wrong path making us think we are going in the right direction. If only during that time, someone had held my hand and comforted me by saying, "don't rush- This too shall pass!!"

THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

The first thing to remember and practice for such situations is to keep calm in the chaos. Any decision taken in a moment of sadness or anger is a regretful decision. The moment will pass and happy times will come, we just have to look at the bigger picture.

You must also know, to keep calm in the chaos, won't be easy. Anything, in the beginning, is difficult till it becomes a routine. When you get used to centering yourself in difficult times, you have aced the process and are now able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Therefore, when we are stuck in some crisis and the timing of things doesn't seem to be in our favor, think back-

    THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!
